Fred Packard

Picture: Fred PackardIt is with profound regret that we report the death of Fred Packard, Chairman of The Rank Foundation.  Fred died suddenly, but peacefully, on 1 March: he had celebrated his sixtieth birthday in January.  We send our deepest sympathies to his wife, Dulce, and their two daughters.

Fred was an inspirational leader, bringing boundless energy and a wealth of new initiatives to his family's charity after he became Chairman in 2000.  He was a keen supporter of all Rank’s youth work initiatives and was excited about the possibilities the YARN network could have to offer.  Fred regularly visited existing and potential projects and was keen that the Foundation make a difference in the lives of young people throughout the UK.

He led by example, attending everything, speaking from the heart to great effect, showing a tremendous generosity of spirit and an enduring sense of fun.

There will be a private funeral, with a memorial service to be announced at a later date.
