Purpose. To build self-confidence, character and team spirit.
Procedure
The object is for each team member to cross a stretch of water using one float and a rope.
Attach buoyancy aids (plastic containers, inner tubes of tyres, and so on) to a rope and secure it across a stretch of water.
Give each team one float, for example the inner tube of a tyre.
Challenge them to get every team member across the stretch of water and through the obstacles safely using the float.
Materials needed:
Life jackets
Ropes
Buoyancy aids
Large float
Have someone in a canoe or boat able to help participants should they need it.
Variations:
One team participating
Relay race between more than one team
Putting coloured floats into the water and awarding points for their retrieval
