A Youth or Adult? Project 2005-2010

Working with local community groups and arts organisations to develop meaningful partnerships to enable young people to explore their talent for the arts and to express and showcase their own culture and views. The programme aims to respond to the needs of local young people and communities and develop the personal, social and creative skills of the young people involved. The programme uses NML’s collections as an inspiration and stimulus to explore a diverse range of issues through the expressive arts. Future plans include the development of an exciting new Youth Theatre and a Young People’s Consultative Body for the work delivered, and the programme also supports NML’s temporary exhibition programme, devising projects linked to the exhibitions. The programme enables young people to have a voice and responds to the diverse needs of local community groups, reflecting their ideas and opinions towards Capital of Culture and beyond.
